Also, for those of you who are thinking, "What kind of budget is she on?! I could never afford to do this!": Travel within Southeast Asia is dirt cheap. I'll be doing a lot of overland travel too (i.e., Batam - Singapore - Kuala Lumpur; Ho Chi Minh - Phnom Penh - Angkor - Bangkok) but much of the distance is actually cheaper to cover by air. Most of these one-way flights are less than US$50.
Finally, an extra-exciting piece of travel news: I'll making a return trip to the US between my stays in China and Kenya. I haven't booked tickets yet (as you can see from the absence of "Minneapolis" from the list above) but it looks like I will be home Feb 8 - Feb 20. And for those of you reading this from my second home in Madison, Wisconsin, of course I will arrange a trip there too. Exact dates and details TBA... Gotta leave a little suspense to keep you engaged for the next chapter. ;)

I'm so excited! Hope you can squeeze in some time to see me when you are in Madison!
Dear dearest friend... and you thought I wasn't reading your blog! :) Actually, I have been enjoying it very much so... especially during finals week when anything other than studying poses as a wonderful distraction. So keep it up. Until tomorrow, when my finals are done, and I don't have to escape studying... just kidding, I will keep reading even then. I am missing you so so so much and thinking about you even more. This last post made me smile the most (other posts made me laugh at loud, but this one made my heart happy)-- I hope you schedule some time to spend with me when you come home! I need to hear more about your adventures - details that may not be post-worthy, or... are only for a best friend's ears. Love you Ammy! My life is not as exciting as yours but I would like to fill you in anyway! MUAH!!!!
Amber,
You better be careful. If you like teaching too much...(You won't get lawyer pay.)
I remember when you gave stilt walking lessons to the neighborhood kids. I loved reading about your students. They are lucky to have you there.
We're glad you're coming home in February. We'll try not to miss you too much at Christmas.
Love you,
Mom
